Alden Bettis
Lifelong resident of the Mad
River Valley, who
served with
distinction during World War II
Alden Bettis grew up in Vermont in the
days before the Rural Electrification Administration brought power
to the hill
farms in Vermont. He's seen quite a few
changes in his
lifetime—light bulbs,
the Model_T, skiing, and television.
What
is the most significant change you've seen in the Mad River
Valley? How
is it possible for someone not to know
how lights worked? What
is your earliest downhill ski memory?
