“History Connections” newsletter

A quarterly publication sent to approximately 2,500 members of Vermont Historical Society. The newsletter combines organizational news and articles on interesting aspects of Vermont history. Past newsletters are on the VHS web site in PDF format, available to the public. A newsletter sponsorship listing with logo is $350 for one issue, or $550 for two issues.

Vermont History Journal

Advertising space is available in this twice yearly journal, which highlights important ajournalslogospects of Vermont history.  It is sent to approximately 2,500 VHS members, including many libraries and other organizations which keep the journal in their collections for years to come. Journals can also be purchased by the public. Please contact us for ad specs and deadlines. Inside back cover ad is $250 for one issue or $425 for two issues. A full-page ad is $150 for one issue, or $255 for two issues. A half-page ad is $100 for one issue, or $170 for two issues.

Family programs

Butter-Churning_Family_ProgramsHelp give children hands-on experience with the past!  Families love these workshops with activities such as making apple head dolls, logging or butter-churning. Sponsorship (logo and listing) is $300, or $150 to sponsor a single workshop (listing) is $150.  Sponsors are acknowledged at the workshops and listed on brochures mailed throughout central Vermont, VHS calendars, and posters which are distributed throughout the region.

Each year, Vermont Historical Society participates in the Barre Heritage Festival Parade for the Barre community, providing historical entertainment. Sponsor the July parade entertainment for $500 and have your corporate banner in the parade!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Program

Honor Dr. King’s legacy with programs presenting various aspects of Vermont’s civil rights history. Each year, VHS develops programs that are presented in one or more locations. Sponsorship (logo and listing) is $500; co-sponsorship (listing) is $250. Sponsors and co-sponsors are listed on VHS calendars, handbills and posters which are distributed throughout the region and acknowledged at the events.

Farmers’ Night Programs

This popular winter series at the State House is free, open to the public, and quite popular! The Society presents one of the programs each year, with dance, music or other entertainment showcasing Vermont’s heritage.  Sponsorship is $300; co-sponsorship is $150.  Both sponsors and co-sponsors are listed on VHS mailers and calendars and posters which are distributed throughout the region and acknowledged at the events.

Vermont History Day

Vermont History Day ParticipantsHelp engage hundreds of Vermont teens in history, critical thinking and a new awareness of the impact that every person can make on the course of history.  In History Day, students in grades 6-12 choose a topic with the year’s theme.  With research done in libraries, museums, historical societies, and with interviews and site visits to explore their topic, students prepare their entries—papers, exhibits, documentaries, web sites or performances. The entries are then judged by local historians, educators, and other professionals at the state competition. Through their work, students gain a deeper understanding of how people, cultures, and events affect the course of history. Vermont History Day is affiliated with National History Day. Sponsorship is $2,500 and co-sponsorship is $1,000, and sponsors are highlighted on VHS calendars, the Vermont History Day web site pages and materials, and with corporate banners and recognition at the event.

Vermont History Expo

Robert ResnikFun and learning for all ages! For thousands of Expo visitors each year, Vermont’s past comes alive through music, dance, heritage animals and exhibits from 180 local historical societies, museums and other heritage organizations at “History’s Country Fair.”  Sponsorships range from $1,500 to $10,000—ask us for details of events and sponsor levels.

Vermont Historical Society annual meeting

The annual meeting of the Vermont Historical Society is open to both Society members and non-members, offering brief highlights of the past year and an educational conference on Vermont history. Annual meeting sponsorships cost $500 and are highlighted on the program invitations sent to approximately 2,500 people.

League of Local Historical Societies & Museums annual meeting and conference

League WorkshopVermont has 195 local historical societies, many of them staffed by dedicated volunteers. The annual fall conference/meeting helps museums and local society staff and volunteers learn from their peers as well as from professionals in the field.  Workshops cover topics such as digitizing collections, care of artifacts and creating exhibits, and the conference typically attracts 180 participants. Lunch sponsorships and meeting sponsorships are $500, acknowledged with logos on meeting materials, VHS calendars, and brochures sent to hundreds of people throughout the state. Lunch sponsors are also acknowledged at lunchtime. Meeting co-sponsorships are $250 and are acknowledged with listings.

E-Newsletters

Six times a year, the Vermont Historical Society e-newsletter is sent to members and non-members.·· E-newsletters announce upcoming events and other VHS and history news. E-Newsletter sponsors are shown with logos, $150 for one issue, or $275 for two issues.
