Dear Sister
It has been a pretty long time since I have written to you but you must not think I have forgotten you One reason I have to offer is and I think is a pretty good one I have been very sick and am pretty sick yet but hope in a few days to be better I received a letter from father this morning and he says he is enjoying good health. The Vermont commissioners have been round to Washington and vicinity tak the state troops home I wish they would come around here and visit some of us because this is an exceedingly dull place for a sick man I see cousin moses leech the day I left Fairfax Seminary he came as far as the boat with me he was well and hearty. I dont know of any news to tell you of so I will close by sending my respects to all asking you to please write soon and often to your absent but effectionate brother E.S. Brown
